Name: Alpha-24 "Grant"
From: Star Wars
Appearance: Having been both an Alpha Trooper and trained within the Galactic Marines, Grant prefers to maintain the look and feel of his old Galactic Marine Armor while also maintaining the protection of the Katarn Class Armor. Such customization is to be expected from an ARC trooper.

For one, much of the synthmesh on his previous armor suit, designed to keep out various hazards such as snow, sand, airborne fungus, and ash, appears on his Katarn-class armor, in the same places. This is more decorative and a tribute to his origins than practical--while the kama synthmesh does dampen blast energy, his Katarn armor does much of the same functions of keeping out toxic evironments from the suit. Naturally, as the purple synthmesh is a tribute to the 21st Nova Corps, the majority of his armor is painted purple and beige.

His shoulderpads are painted red as an indication of rank, however this is notably dated as the amount of customization of the armor generally indicated troopers of higher rank, as well as colors being used later on to indicate specific units. Still, Grant keeps the shoulderpads red because if he didn't, he might be confused for a commander rather than a captain (the armor does look like something a commander might wear for battle).

Another notable modification is the additional ammo pouches featured on ARC Trooper armor--while not as sturdy as the armor itself, these allow Grant easy access to grenades, landmines, medkits, and even extra rations. This adds a few inches to the front of his armor, but he finds being able to pull out what he needs when he needs it is a helpful bonus.

Some of the minor, less visible modifications include a miniature flamethrower to compliment the hidden vibroblade hidden within the suit and a couple of custom backpack modules that allowed it to be reconfigured to either feed a constant supply of ammunition to a weapon via a flexible connection, or a jetpack with an extra oxygen tank for space-borne environments (Hey, if he's going to fly out in space, it'd be wise to have that oxygen tank, wouldn't it?) in addition to the other modules that could reconfigure it.

Age: 47.
Gender: Male.
Personality: Alpha-24, nicknamed Grant, is the stern yet caring no-nonsense Captain of the Valor Company. His talents for leadership and skills assessment were noticed early by Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi and, before him, Jango Fett, who both opted to put Grant through even tougher cross training to improve his leadership skills. This ended up making him one of the toughest clones in the galaxy, and such impressive skills got him inducted into the 501st. This was partially because although Bacara, the leader of the 21st Nova Corps, realized Grant was skilled, he didn't approve of Grant's leadership strategy, and decided it was best to send him to where he could be of more use. He cares for his troops, not sending them out on any missions he wouldn't be willing to do himself.

Having worked with Ki-Adi-Mundi, Grant is well aware that unorthodox strategies like those the jedi use can work, and if he senses somebody may be good at one of those strategies, he's not afraid to (try and) train them in said strategy. After all, he has proven to be quite good at predicting what a clone will be best at in advance. He led his company in many battles, and was always on the lookout for clones that showed grit under fire for consideration as potential 501st recruits.

In case you're wondering what makes him different from Rex, other than different origins, it's that Grant tends to be better personally training his own troops, while not being as confident as Rex is. He knows he has to put his company first, however, and his concious awareness of that at all times usually makes up for his average confidence level. And Grant is also not afraid to defy his superiors if he thinks they are doing the wrong thing, having proven this by breaking off of the Galactic Republic after Order 66 was issued and before it became the Galactic Empire. With his company.
Backstory: The Alpha Troopers were the second set of troopers produced in an attempt to create clones capable of handling covert missions too delicate for standard units. After the standard flash training and accelerated growth for these clones, they were placed under the direct tutelage of Jango Fett, who taught them how to use their fierce independence, innate creativity, and physical superiority in combination with training in advanced weapons and vehicles to become virtual one-man armies. The troopers were then locked in stasis until they were required.

That would be two months after the Battle of Geonosis, when a Confederacy assault on Kamino prompted their early activation. When they closed on Tipoca City, Prime Minister Lama Sue activated the Advance Recon Commandos and authorized their deployment to hot-spots across Kamino in a last-ditch effort to save the planet's cloning facilities, working with a force of Jedi to save the planet's precious cloning facilities. This included Grant.

Following this, the ARCs were integrated into the Grand Army of the Republic. Grant himself got transferred to the Galactic Marines, where Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi noticed his talents beyond that of a typical ARC trooper, and gave him even more strenous cross-training than most of the 21st Nova Corps got. There he learned how to fight in a variety of different environments, making his already formidable skillset even more impressive.

(Un)Fortunately, with Clone marshal commander Bacara in charge, his high standards were exceeded by Grant--but his leadership style disappointed Bacara, so Bacara was well aware Grant had significant talent when he transfered Grant to the 501st. Ki-Adi-Mundi was dismayed by this, but comforted that Grant was going to get an aguably better position within the 501st. He naturally got a position as a Clone Captain, and has stayed there ever since.

One may wonder why Grant hasn't gotten a promotion to Captain with his impressive skillset. It's because everybody knows that Grant would have a much harder time promoting talented clone troopers to the best of his ability if he had to manage MORE clone troopers. 144 is a rather large number, and that's the standard number of clones in a platoon, which is what Grant currently manages. However, his constant belief in doing what is right for the Republic has earned him a suit of Katarn-class armor, partially because of his impressive list of accomplishments, partially to protect the valuable Captain from harm, and partially to allow him to go through a hellhole like the one on Umbara like he did, taking out an impressive amount of Separatist Droids before he got injured and had to be removed from the battle, so that he wouldn't get wounded in the first place. Let's just say that Grant's performance in that battle impressed everyone, even the enemy.

His achievements went far beyond that period of time. However, with the end of the war approaching, although Grant did realize that the Jedi weren't infalliable like the rest of the 501st on their mission to Mageto, he secretly believed that killing the defenders of the Jedi Order, who had so valiantly held up the defense of the Republic, was wrong. He still fought with the other clones, right up until Order 66. When Grant recieved that order, he immediately gave a direct order to DISOBEY it and rescue the Jedi, backing it up with a speech which essentially said the Jedi really were vailant defenders of the Republic. It was difficult to get his troops to resist their years of psychological programming, bordering on impossible, but Grant managed to at least get his portion of the clones to refrain from helping the others on Corusant.

Appalled by the decision of Chancelor Palpatine, and putting the good of the Republic first, Grant knew he and his squadron had to go into hiding if they wanted to help steer the new Galactic Empire from the course they were following. So he secretly arranged for his company to be sent off to a non-existent warzone on a far-away planet. Nobody expected he would do such a thing, which helped his cause. Once the Valor Company got to the planet, Grant briefed them all on his REAL reasons for coming there: He knew he had to do what was right for the Republic, and could tell that the new Empire was not going to end up doing that. After a few days of rousing speeches and no real combat, he managed to convince the Valor Company that the good of the former Republic was more important than following the Supreme Chancellor, and the Valor Company then dedicated themselves to doing the best they could for the galaxy, not just the Empire's regime. Following that, he was taken into Ink City with a few members of his sqaudron.
Moral Standing: While Grant is a soldier first and foremost, he holds the belief that the Republic should do what is right for all of its citizens, first and foremost, rather than whatever the Supreme Chancellor says. Grant is well aware that Chancellor Papitine is just a man, and men can be mistaken, which is why he instead has his goals revolve around ideals, and only followed Papitine for as long as obeying him would line up with his ideals. He is also typically a strict commander (even with the diversity of his army) and leaves little tolerance for misbehavior and the like. In this sense, he is Lawful Good.
Dreams: Grant wants what is best for the galaxy, and is not afraid to use his military forces to achieve this. However, he does not share the same programming and conditioning of most clone troopers to follow Palpatine, understanding that Palpatine is just a man and men can be mistaken.

He is apparently not afraid to stand up to his superiors when he believes what they are doing is wrong, although he does dream of the day where he can unite once more with the Empire under more noble goals than the Empire itself has taken up.
Fears: After Grant saw Palpatine's incredible betrayal of the Jedi at Corusant, with the issuing of Order 66, Grant had his lingering suspicions of the Chancellor, who he suspected had too much power, confirmed. Due to this, he now has a (perfectly reasonable) fear that anybody who ends up with too much power may end up as corrupt as Palpatine.

Also, in his weaker moments, it becomes evident that Grant has a fear of failure. However, he typically manages this fear quite well, spurring others on to be the best they can be to combat the fear rather than worrying incessantly about whether they'll succeed or not.
Extra: Grant is very much a Badass. He is more skilled than anyone in his company, which works both ways: While Grant can take on nearly any threat by himself, and come out winning, his troopers cannot, and are typically specialized for certain roles, only very rarely being better at Grant in just one thing. With Grant, and Grant alone, it's not so much a matter of whether he'll hit you when he fires his gun, but rather if he'll hit you where he wants to.

That being said, while he may be able to take on one transformer mono-e-mono and win, two or three is enough to bring Grant down, assuming they work well together. The easiest way to deal with Grant in a fight is to simply lure Grant away from a fight before it starts, although you do have to be clever while doing this as Grant is not naive.
Character Location: Acclamator I-class Assault Ship. This happens to be the same Assault Ship used to transport Grant's company to a far off planet to "restore order". There are some scuff marks of battle here and there, but without a proficient crew to man the bridge, this ship will likely stay landed where it is at. Many of the weapons and systems onboard are still functional, however the hyperdrive is not.

There's also an oddity regarding attempting to escape using this ship: If it is attempted, a clone commander's voice will tell the crew to "Get back to the battlefield" much like in the Battlefront games, and the ship will start taking damage from some unknown source until it gets back into the area above Ink City. It basically can't be used to escape for this odd and mysterious reason.
Samples: Here, here, and here. Elements of each have been blended to make this character, and yes he is moderately based off of Rex. I took the effort to make him more unique, though.
Writing Sample: To be added later.
